more books

This week I finished Julie and Julia by Julie Powell and Shadow Baby by Alison McGhee. Both really enjoyable, fabulous books. Julie and Julia because it was a wonderful, funny memoir and Shadow Baby because it was a great multilayered story.

Tomorrow I will try to put of pictures of the finished socks.

seventeen

So the seventeenth book that I couldn't remember last night was This is Not the Tropics byLadette Randolph, which I really liked. And it was short stories which usually bore me.

Also, I finished the sockapaloooza socks last night. I am deciding if and when I will post a picture.

Ok, back to work. It is crazy and stressing me out man.

bad blogger, no bickie

I have been a very bad blogger. With my birthday and the craziness at work I have not updated for a very long time.

I have finished a few books; The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood, Star Lake Saloon and Housekeeping Cottages : A Novel by Sara Rath, and The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger. Oddly enough it was The Devil Wears Prada that has struck me the most. It is yet another chick lit book, but at the end the girl has a fabulous job and life in front of her, but no man. Most other books end with the girl riding into the sunset with the sensitive, sexy man. The girl in this novel did not live in a nunnery, but she found her happiness at the end of the book with no help from the boy who rescues her. This makes it stand out in my mind as more feminist minded than other books. I guess I just feel I need to support fellow alums.

There is one more book, but I can't remember the name and it is in my desk at work. Also, soon the sockapaloooza socks will be finished! Hurrah!
