travelling sock

This past weekend my sockapalooza sock and I took a little trip. I went up to Ithaca, New York for a friend's wedding. The sock didn't come to the wedding, but made a nice travelling companion.
I couldn't resist taking a few sock pictures as the yarn harlot does. So we have the sock on the Cornell campus posing with the clock tower and posing by Sage Chapel, where the wedding was held. (Check out the fancy manicure!)
And since this next weekend is a long weekend the sock and I are going to the beach. And perhaps there will be more pictures, as soon as I figure out how I'm turning the heel.

something blue

I can finally post a picture of something finished last weekend for a knitting friend of mine who got married this weekend. It is this pattern found on frecklegirl's blog knit in dale yarn baby cotton. And the blue wasn't intentional. Only after casting on did I realize that it made a nice something blue for the wedding day.

And yes it is all thong in the back.

sock update

So I don't have a sock on the needles right now. I had two quick false starts. First, I tried the river rapids pattern by sockbug on the left, which I may go back to and then I tried Saucy by cider moon below. The saucy pooled horribly with a large pink strip, but the river rapids made a nice spiral. I'll think more about it tonight and go through the patterns I have at home. Perhaps I've even cast on again.

Not the handknits!

Our apartment is being cleaned out which is great. But I came home today to find my new thermal sweater on the floor! It had been handing on the mantel drying. Gah! Why would they do that?! I know that not everyone gets knitting, but you do not throw a sweater on the floor or throw an old towel on my winter hat and mittens!

I hope they never do any work in the apartment ever again.

Sockapalooooza

I was trolling yarn online last week and as soon as I saw this color I thought it would be great for my pal. And hopefully this yarn won't pool too much. Now I just have to find a pattern. I think I'm going to do something more solid for this colorway and steer clear of the really lacy patterns out there. I pulled about 5 patterns I have been wanting to try and I'm going to put it up for a vote at knitting tonight.

no pictures yet....

My computer was just fixed, so I need to upload my beautiful spring pictures and show the progress on thermal (I am almost done). Hopefully done enough to wear when I go upstate in a few weeks.

But there has been much busyness, last weekend was spring shopping and scrabble and bloddy marys. This weekend will be movies and museums (Spiderman, Double Indemnity, and Brooklyn museum, oh my). But in between there is work and a women's foundation breakfast with a former Claire Huxtable and the director of the Namesake (!).

I also have a few projects up my sleeves, both semisecret. One is sockapalooza, which now that I have my match I need yarn and a pattern. I plan to look around the yarn shops here, but am thinking of ordering online perhaps.
