FO:Vinnland socks...

Hot off the needles are the Vinnland socks. I knit these almost concurrently on two sets of double pointed needles, mostly because I made up the heel turn and didn't want to forget when I got to the 2nd sock. These are made with Brown sheep wildfoote yarn in blue flannel knit on #2 needles. The pattern is Vinnland from anticraft, which I modified to do a magic cast-on toe and reverse heel flap. I'm glad these are done because it means the Christmas knitting is out of the way and I can focus on finishing my pile of UFOs that I've been working on for ME!

And maybe start a sweater or two I've been eyeing......

season for socks

No, these are not my sockaplaooza socks, they haven't arrived yet. I finally broke out the winter clothes recently and with the current cold snap handknit socks have come in very handy. I knit these over a year ago from the interweave knits simply lovely lace socks pattern in the Spring 06 issue. I can pinpoint when I knit them because I remember working on them in my friend's house in Berkeley. Anyway, I love the pink in this yarn, I still even have a little of it left. Now what to do with those leftovers?

So, I mentioned that after our day at Rhinebeck my friend taught me how to spin on drop spindle. As I was instantly hooked I came home and ordered myself a drop spindle to practice/learn on. And now I have yarn that I made, silver romney wool, navajo ply I think. I just did a ply that made sense. I think I will just keep it this yummy natural color, I already kool-aid dyed some fiber and plan to do some more after Thanksgiving (when I can go to a real grocery store with lots of kool-aid colors).

It's just a shame we didn't go back to rhinebeck after I learned to spin, I think I would have a house full of hanfpainted fiber now. Hmmm... that is probably good for my budget and my house.

I do have enough fiber to spin right now and there is always etsy, plus kool-aid dyeing the fiber myself in the microwave is definitely interesting.
